GASHI WINS ENDORSEMENT OF INDEPENDENCE PARTY OF NY
Vedat Gashi, Candidate for NYS Assembly
Yorktown, NY (October 3, 2018) – Vedat Gashi, candidate for NYS Assembly, wins
the endorsement of the Independence Party of New York. In a stunning move, the Party
which previously endorsed the incumbent Kevin Byrne (R) in his last election, now
supports the newcomer candidate.
Gashi is a gun owner in support of common sense reform, like keeping convicted
domestic abusers from having firearms. As a family man, Gashi knows first-hand the
challenges working families face on a daily basis and supports local efforts to lower
taxes in Westchester and Putnam Counties.
“Gashi is the independent voice we need at a time when our community and nation are
very divided,” said Frank Mackay, Chairman of the Independence Party of New York.
“We need to elect leaders who value people over party.”
Gashi has already won the support of the Working Families and Women’s Equality
parties, along with the Democratic nomination.
“I’m honored and thrilled to have the support of the Independence Party of New York,”
said Gashi. “Partisan politics is a bridge to nowhere. I look forward to working with
people from all sides to do what’s best for our district.”
Gashi, a leading real estate attorney, is a longtime resident of Yorktown, where he lives
with his wife and their two young children. He is a graduate of Lakeland High School,
Connecticut College and Seton Hall Law School.
